Bill, who is reading the Patrick O'Brian seafaring novels, announced that he had to see the Falls of Clyde. I had no idea what he was talking about. A falls? OK. But why are they called Clyde? And does this have anything to do with Ross Norberry? Turns out the Falls of Clyde is a four-masted ship built in Scotland, where there is a falls called Falls of Clyde. Of course, we went to see the ship.

I can see why they don't park these things nose-to-nose.

Hanauma Bay is known as the best snorkeling spot on Oahu. The parking lot was closed the first time we went past, so we doubled back and bought lunch to take to another beach. Then when we passed it again, it was open. Still had to wait an hour in line outside, though. And frankly, we thought the snorkeling at Las Gatas, near Zihuatanejo, Mexico, was much better.

But it was loads of fun, and I got to play with the one-time use underwater camera. A note about these pictures: as returned from the drugstore, the pictures all seem to be teal-colored fogs with nearly-invisible fish in them. But when I asked Photoshop to do Auto-Levels, lots of detail appeared from the fog. In "real life," the fish were much more colorful than they appear here (except for the first one, which was completely silver; it looks more interesting Photoshopped this way, so I left it).
