Hawaii 2003 (page 2)

According to a sign attached to the railing, Mark Twain called this the most beautiful view in the world. Oahu is pretty amazing... in 15 minutes you can go from a warm, sunny beach to a misty mountain top.

The Punchbowl is a military cemetary. Something like 35,000 people are buried there, from various wars. It's a beautiful, and very sad, place.

I can't help but hope that their families feel more pride than loss.

This is the view from in front of the statue. There really is a sense of peace there.

The Byodo-In Buddhist Temple was built without any nails. (They didn't mention glue.) I'm not sure why. It's another very peaceful place.

This Buddha statue is about six feet high from the base to the top of his head.

They have hundreds, maybe thousands, of koi in their ponds. There are also peacocks and swans wandering around. This is about the time the digital camera broke.
